Barack Obama needs to take the “stop the smears” section down from his Web site. It isn’t working – - Obama keeps attempting to slime John McCain on a regular basis with dishonest charges.
Today’s episode – - hmmm, that’s too optimistic – - the early morning episode for today came in the form of an “Obama Action Wire” e-mail from Obama central, “A new attack from Swift Boaters,” informing backers that a “a right-wing smear group launched a full-fledge (sic) attack against Barack, pulling in every baseless lie and re-hashed false assertion in their playbook.” The e-mail continued, “the ad is so ridiculous that CNN and even Fox News have both refused to run it.”
Okay, fair enough – - someone attacks, Obama gets to respond. No problem, right?
Wrong, of course, because Obama then tries to tie the video in question to John McCain’s campaign:
John McCain claims he had nothing to do with this attack, but a former McCain consultant leads the so called ‘third-party’ group behind these lies.
The primary funder of the ads, Harrold Simmons, is one of the main culprits behind the Swift Boating of John Kerry and a top bundler for John McCain. The spokesman for the group also has ties to the Kerry Swift Boat attacks.
The McCain camp and the Swift Boaters must be truly desperate to change the subject from John McCain’s shocking disconnect with the economic struggles of the American people.
This has become all too typical of Barack Obama’s campaign style. Either the man is stupid, or he knows that John McCain has no more control over the makers of this video than he, Obama, has over Moveon.org and Huffington Post and the rest of the Democratic Party Smear Machine.
So here’s an important notice: I support John McCain, but what I write in this blog is my own work; McCain and his staff have absolutely nothing to do with what I publish.
Clear enough, Obama-the-Liar?

Look, Barack/Barry SoetorObamaDunham is NOT going to stop his smear campaign. You know. I know. He knows it. His advisers. The wrongly named MSM knows it. McCain knows it. Hey, the birds and tress know it.
BBSOD is person without integrity, a whiner and megalomaniac.
To him, smearing his putative opponent while is his privilege.
And how dare any of us criticize him for that!
BTW: “Either the man is stupid, or he knows that John McCain has no more control over the makers of this video than he, Obama, has over Moveon.org and Huffington Post and the rest of the Democratic Party Smear Machine.”
He is stupid. He doesn’t care about who does what and, by his always-non-response, he gives support to those who smear McCain.

Ok, I support Obama, but I dont hate McCain….honestly, I cant wait for the debates, should be good….
anyways about your article…..
ya, that simmons guy is responsible for painting kerry, a former military man like mccain, as unfit to lead or scary to be made president….
now he is funding another “swift boat” ad against Obama….He’s a republican, of course he’s going to use his money to attack Obama, Obama is going to raise his taxes cuz he makes over $250,000/year…..so attack, makes sense to me…
I do aggree with you that Mccain cannot be held responsible even if an old consultant helped simmons……Its like Obama cant control what moveon.org does….
so ya, it was wrong of Obama to try and make that tie, but admit it, mccain is not squeaky clean in his ads either….remember in march when he sent out an anti-obama vid in email that likened Obama to sympathizing with osama bin laden…….so i think we can agree that this election is not going to stay clean…..
I have been staying up on the ad trends and last month 9 out of 10 times mccains ads where attack ads…..Obama was about half that….but, but
this month might be different because his poll numbers are down as a result, so i would expect to see more attack ads from the obama campaign, but do me a favor and factcheck what the obama team puts out…..i dont mind attack ads, as long as they are true and not skewed…..
take care

If the ad is not factual then it should not be run….if it is factual then it should so the public gets the truth. I believe that the ad in question is factual.

Why not have a “Fight the Smears” section on the web page? He needs it for the amount of lies floating around about him. You know 9% of American people won’t vote for him because they are “uncomfortable” with the idea of a black president? So all of these people who already feel uncomfortable easily fall prey to the often baseless campaigns set up against him. There are many more people out to ruin his reputation than McCain’s. Why shouldn’t he set the record straight?
The problem is research; the American public just aren’t doing enough of it. Fine, support whichever candidate you choose. But at least avoid ignorance by conducting thorough research into the other party and their representative, in this case, Mr. Obama. And that means referring to more than just one source.

I am voting for John McCain. For this reason:
If Obama wins the Arabs, Muslims, Jihadist, etc. will be celebrating in the streets just like they did on 911.
In the Muslim world, if your father is Muslim then so are you. Then B. Hussein Obama says that he will get us out of Iraq. They love that too. They see him as a sympathizer. I think this is very dangerous, giving our enemies time to regroup and come back at us. You know they will. This war is not going away ever. They hate us more than we hate them. They may even be bold enough to go after Israel seeing that Obama does not want to fight.
